Power Lines To Be Buried
Underground As Part Of Special Improvement District Upgrades

(LAS VEGAS) — Construction on a conversion project to bury overhead power lines on Flamingo Road from Koval Lane to Interstate 15 is scheduled to begin on February 17, 2009. The project will commence at the Flamingo substation on the northeast corner of Koval Lane and Flamingo Road. Construction will take place overnight; crews will work between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Sunday evenings through Friday mornings beginning February 17. During construction hours, traffic lanes will be reduced on Flamingo Road, and drivers will be advised to use alternate routes and to expect some delays.

The project is being funded by Harrah’s Operating Company, Inc. as part of a special improvement district approved by Clark County in March of 2008. Wilson Construction is the design and construction contractor overseeing the project in coordination with NV Energy.

The construction will involve three phases: trenching roads, underground cabling and transmission-pole removal. The project is expected to take approximately 16-18 months to complete, and will employ approximately 30 to 50 local construction workers and contractors. Updates on construction status are available online at www.flamingopowerlines.com, or via voice mail message at 702/494-4999.

Efforts will be made to reduce the impact to properties located along Flamingo Road throughout the project. Construction updates will also be sent to local transportation and visitor organizations in an effort to minimize impacts on traffic.
